Client: Winking Bee Optometry
The Challenge: Name, brand, and design a visual identity for a new and local optometry practice in a competitive landscape filled with large key players.
The Outcome: The new name and logo helped differentiate the client in a crowded and competitive landscape by focusing on holistic eyecare with now over 60+, 4.5 star Yelp ratings.
The Process: The client initially engaged me to design a brand identity for their new optometry practice which they wanted to call Eyeview Optometry. By taking them through a design thinking sprint, I helped them to see that their name was not distinctive enough to stand up to the current competitors. I then led them through more discovery exercises and we developed a positioning statement based on their core values. This then set the tone for us to dive into another design sprint for naming.
We iterated several naming options and market-tested it to surrounding neighbors in the vicinity of the future location of the practice. The final consensus came down to the name Winking Bee which hit their core company values of personal, friendly and holistic eye care.
We then proceeded to iterate on logos based on the final name and visual inputs and landed on a hexagonal pair of glasses that winked to tie back to their core values. Branding standards, visual look and feel boards were also delivered based on the core values we established with the client.




This business is now one of the top-rated optometry practices in their region.
